NORFOLK, VA
Providing street and outdoor dining designs following a pandemic
Following the success of the OpenNorfolk COVID-19 response tactics our team and our partners at Work Program Architects were asked to help the City of Norfolk, VA develop creative and adaptive policies that allowed more permanency in the outdoor dining,
gathering and retail activities quickly installed during the pandemic. ‘Outdoor Spaces’ is designed to grow to include all forms of commercial uses that desire to operate outdoors, whether it is for a weekend, a season or semi-permanently. While the primary audience is
Norfolk’s retail and restaurant community, this program is designed to serve any entity that will benefit from outdoor activity while contributing to the overall vitality of a street or neighborhood.
