The Town of Atlantic Beach engaged YARD & Co. to create a vision and strategy for the community’s ‘causeway’ that connects the island to the mainland. The project included a three-day community charrette where strategies were collaboratively created to define new development typologies, design guidelines, growth incentives, and zoning regulations. Different options for how to participate in the charrette were offered, including open office hours, pop-up events, scheduled events, one-on-one meetings, focus group discussions, and a plan unveiling social event. The project was completed in three months, with a Small Area Plan as the final deliverable.
