Pittsburgh’s Mount Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) used Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Neighborhood Investment Fund monies to engage the team led by YARD & Company to reimagine the intersection of Virginia Avenue, Wyoming Street and Southern Avenue. The approximately 6-month Enjoy the View process included: exploring initial concepts with an Advisory Committee, informed by analysis and input from Community Forums; implementing a 2-week demonstration project to test a preferred concept and identity; and preparing a conceptual design and estimate of probable costs for a more permanent solution based on the results of the preceding efforts. The project built momentum for implementation and helped the CDC and the City create a strategy for funding improvements.
